Stained Glass Daisy

A 3D stained glass daisy made from small pieces of coloured glass.

This is a stained glass daisy that I made at my stained glass evening class. There are 8 big white petals, and 8 small white petals, and a yellow centre. Each piece of glass was cut by hand and ground into a smooth shape. These pieces are then wrapped in copper foil. The foil wrapped pieces all needed to be tinned before joining them, to prevent bare copper foil from showing in hard to reach corners. The larger petals were laid flat on the table and soldered in a circle, and the smaller petals were soldered to this ring, with a piece of glass under the tip of each petal to give it a raised profile. Once all the petals were assembled, the yellow centre was soldered in place. A stalk was made by soldering 3 pieces of wire in parallel, leaving one end un-soldered, to allow a tripod connection to the flower for more stability.
